TXBS 2025: Statesman application

Texas Boys State is a selective and once-in-a-lifetime capstone leadership experience held at the University of Texas at Austin. From June 8-13, 2025, over 1,200 of the best-and-brightest male rising Seniors from across Texas will come together to practice the science and art of self-government.
Selection Process
To be selected for TXBS 2025:

1. All prospective Statesmen must apply with this form. We are looking for the best-and-brightest rising Seniors who have demonstrated character, competence, passion, and potential. NOTE: Double-check all email addresses; typos may prevent your application from being considered.

2. All prospective Statesmen must have Parent/Guardian approval.

3. All prospective Statesmen must be nominated by a School Nominator. This is any educator (Superintendent, Principal, Teacher, Coach, Counselor, etc) who knows the student well and can vouch for them.

4. All prospective Statesmen must be interviewed/approved by an American Legion Post. Please use the Find-A-Post tool here or the Blue Book file here to find your local Post(s).

5. All prospective Statesmen must be financially sponsored. The Financial Sponsor is often the Legion Post, family, school, or local community organizations or businesses. In exceptional cases, there is also limited scholarship funding available. Our team will work with any and all Statesmen to ensure that merit, and not finances, determine who will represent their school at Texas Boys State.

American Legion Texas Boys State Pledge

All prospective Statesmen are are required to review and accept the American Legion Texas Boys State Pledge:
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands. I sincerely want to attend Texas Boys State, and if accepted, will to the best of my ability:

• Take a serious and conscientious interest in discharging my duties as a citizen through active participation in all activities
• Obey the rules of Boys State and respect the judgment of the Boys State Director, Counselors, and Staff
• Seek election or appointment to office, and if elected or appointed, serve in that office as applicable
• Keep myself neat, clean, and well groomed at all times and void the use of profane language and actions
• Refrain from the use of tobacco, alcohol, and/or illicit drugs, and
• Upon my return home from Boys State, I will make a formal oral or written report to my sponsor(s) and encourage/brief next year’s Boys State nominee(s)
